Mule SX (MY21) – Kawasaki

The MULE SX family of side x sides packs plenty of stout muscle into a compact and agile two-passenger vehicle. Handle a wide variety of tasks with the ability to tread lightly and manoeuvre in tight areas – and fit in the bed of a full-size pickup truck.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The MULE SX is powered by a 401cc, 4-stroke, OHV, air-cooled engine. Compact, lightweight and durable, the engine is extremely reliable. Belt-driven automatic transmission with forward and reverse. Rear differential lock allows rear wheels to be locked for maximum traction. Ground disturbance is minimised when unlocked. The engine’s air supply enters the air cleaner box via a snorkel intake routed through the tubing of the overhead frame, ensuring the engine is provided with a steady supply of clean air.

SUSPENSION AND BRAKES

Independent MacPherson strut-type front suspension allows each wheel to track over uneven ground. Minimal wheel camber change throughout the suspension stroke contributes to stable handling. Unit swingarm with dual shocks with adjustable spring preload. Front and rear suspension settings were selected for off-road performance and ride comfort. The parking brake lever (conveniently located to the left of the driver’s seat) operates a mechanical internal expansion type brake for the rear wheels.

FRAME

The Mule’s SX 905 mm x 1,044mm x 245mm (L x W x H) cargo tray holds a sizable 181kg. Cargo bed features a two-lever tailgate release system for easy opening and closing. Steel front bumper is a standard feature, offering protection to the front of the vehicle. Positioned close to the body for an integrated look.

Seat material has superb elasticity, offering all-day 2-seater comfort. The material is resistant to cold, allowing it to maintain suppleness when the temperature drops. Headlamp and horn switches are positioned just to the right of the driver. Blank spots allow switches for accessories to be seamlessly integrated into the dash. Skid plates for the front differential, engine and rear differential are fitted as standard equipment. Centre skid plate greatly reduces the chance of getting stuck when driving over obstacles.
