ENGINE

The KLX140R air-cooled single-cylinder engine offers a lightweight power plant that is both simple (to operate and to maintain) and reliable. The engine revs easily and riders will soon find themselves wanting to use the full range of the engine.

SUSPENSION AND BRAKES

The aluminium swingarm on the KLX140R offers both light weight and increased strength. Like those on our KX machines, it features a hairline finish. KX racing-type chain adjusters allow precise adjustment of chain slack, helping to minimise drivetrain power transfer loss. KX-style wheels with strong, high-grade die-cast hubs offer the same durability as those found on our KX racers. Like our KX motocrossers, the KLX140 features lightweight RK EXCEL aluminium rims.

While most “playbikes” feature a disc/drum combination, the KLX140 has disc brakes front and rear for a high level of braking performance. The 220 mm diameter front petal disc and twin-piston caliper offer strong, easy-to-control braking. The rear wheel is slowed by a 186 mm diameter petal disc gripped by single-piston caliper. 33 mm telescopic front forks on the KLX140R are matched to the Uni-Trak rear suspension featuring a 5-way preload adjustable rear shock-absorber for superb handling and offroad ability.

FRAME

KX-based perimeter frame made of high tensile steel contributes to the high offroad riding potential of the KLX140R. In fact, the frame uses the same upper tubes as those on the KLX250. KX-style wheels with strong, high-grade die-cast hubs offer the same durability as those found on our KX range. Like our KX motorcrossers, the KLX140R features lightweight RK ECEL aluminium rims. Seat height are also a nice compromise between kid’s bikes and full-size machines, at 780mm.
