SUGOMI PERFORMANCE: POWER
Stimulate Your Senses: Sugomi performance ensures that riding the Z650 is a treat for the senses. A responsive, torqueful engine character and nimble, lightweight chassis offer sporty riding excitement that new and more experienced riders alike will enjoy. *Sugomi describes core performance and styling elements found in Kawasaki’s Z supernaked models. Imbued with sugomi, their performance excites; a ride on a Z supernaked is a visceral experience that stimulates the senses; engine and chassis tuning deliver a high level of control. Sugomi is also evident in their sharp styling, dynamic crouching form, and distinct silhouette.
- ENGINE – Exciting Parallel Twin Engine: Tuning of the 649 cc parallel twin engine focused on achieving a throttle response that balanced a powerful feeling and a quick-revving character. To optimise performance for everyday riding, care was taken to maximise low-mid range torque. When opening the throttle, riders will notice an extremely smooth and powerful engine character that offers both a high level of control when making minute throttle adjustments and a gratifying rush of acceleration in the lower rpm ranges.
- CLUTCH – Assist & Slipper Clutch: An Assist & Slipper Clutch helps to put the power to the ground while providing an extremely light pull at the lever and reducing rear-wheel chatter during downshifts.
SUGOMI PERFORMANCE: HANDLING
Light weight, nimble handling: Benefitting from a chassis comprised of lightweight components, the Z650 weighs in at 187 kg. Designed using Kawasaki’s new in-house analysis technology, the lightweight trellis frame and swingarm were the key to the Z650’s ultra-light handling.
- FRAME – Lightweight Trellis Frame: One of the key components to achieving the Z650’s light weight (noticeable as soon as the bike is lifted off its side-stand), the trellis frame weighs only 15 kg and contributes significantly to the bike’s light, nimble handling.
- SUSPENSION – Balanced & Responsive: Horizontal Back-link rear suspension offers a progressive character and delivers a balance of sporty performance and ride comfort. The telescopic front fork is a part of a balanced suspension package, tuned to provide progressive damping with a high level of feedback to the rider.
- EASY – Low seat height & easy manoeuvrability: The combination of a low 790 mm seat height and a slim chassis that makes it easy to reach the ground enables a wide range of riders to enjoy the Z650 with confidence. The Z650’s low weight and low seat height both contribute to manoeuvrability, whether walking beside the bike, or foot peddling in a parking lot. The easy-to-manage engine response and strong low-end torque further facilitate low-speed manoeuvring.
- ERGONOMICS – Relaxed, sporty ergonomics: Wide, flat handlebar and a relaxed, sporty riding position allows riders to fully capitalise on the Z650’s sporty street riding potential. Designed to both inspire rider confidence as well as put the rider in the ideal position for control, the comfortable and natural position is suitable for a wide range of riders.
SUGOMI STYLING
Aggressive Z Supernaked Looks: From its front cowl adorned with meter cover to its compact tail cowl, the Z650’s head-turning design exudes a functional beauty. Complementing sugomi design elements (crouching stance, low-positioned head and upswept tail) that give it an instantly recognisable silhouette, its condensed appearance is emphasised by slim, close-fitting bodywork designed to give the bike a light, nimble image that reflects its sporty performance.
- BODYWORK – Fierce, Predatory Posture: With a sharp, compact cowl and muscular radiator shrouds, the Z650 boasts a strong sugomi presence. The sharp chin spoiler, meter cover, and forward-slanting lines contribute to the aggressive posture. An LED headlight adds a distinct high-tech touch.
- COMPACT TAIL – Dynamic Design: Compact, upswept tail cowl contributes to the Z650’s dynamic, sporty image. The strong Supernaked design can be further emphasised with an accessory pillion-seat cover.
- Z DETAILS – LED Taillight: The LED taillight lights up in an “Z” pattern, contributing to the sporty image and the strong Z identity.
TECHNOLOGY
High-Tech Electronics: TFT colour instrumentation and Bluetooth smartphone connectivity add high-tech elements to the ride and allow you to connect to the Z650, contributing to an enhanced motorcycling experience.
- TFT INSTRUMENTATION – Useful Information at a Glance: 4.3” all-digital TFT (thin-film transistor) colour instrumentation gives the cockpit a high-tech, high-grade appearance and excellent visibility. The screen’s background colour is selectable (black or white), and screen brightness adjusts automatically to suit available light.
- SMARTPHONE CONNECTIVITY – Take Control from your Phone: Bluetooth Smartphone Connectivity (using RIDEOLOGY THE APP*) connects you with your bike like never before, allowing you to view vehicle info, riding log, phone notifications, and general settings. *RIDEOLOGY THE APP is not intended for use during vehicle operation. Only use RIDEOLOGY THE APP when the vehicle is not being operated and it is safe to do so.
